Allan Carson Queensferry Sports and Community Hub
Allan Carson General Manager

Allan’s background is in the Building Services Industry where he was in Business Development and Operational Management before getting involved with The Hub.

Allan was responsible for the asset transfer of the facility from CEC to Queensferry Rugby Club originally and then as the project grew arms and legs he was instrumental in forming Queensferry Sports and Community Hub which is a (not for profit) Sports Social Enterprise charity.

After running the project for 2 years on a voluntary basis, with the help of a revenue grant fund from the Robertson Trust, Allan gave up his career in the Building Services Industry to run The Hub on a full-time basis. Allan now reports to a Board of Trustees who are volunteers and are from a range of business sectors. The B.O.T offer support and guidance as well as taking on some of the legal and compliance responsibilities of the charity.

Louise Hinchliffe Queensferry Sports and Community Hub
Louise Hinchliffe Chair

I have lived in South Queensferry for nearly 20 years & one of the things I admire the most is the town’s community spirit.

My family all use the Hub and both my son and daughter play football for KSQ FC. I’ve been an active committee member with KSQ as Fixture Co-ordinator as well as Team Manager for my son’s team for many years. He has now reached the end of youth football and as a result I’ve stepped down from the KSQ Committee but hope to put the skills and experience gained from this to good use with the Hub.

On a professional front I work as a Finance Projects Manager and again hope that the tools & expertise that I apply to this position can be transferred to the role of being a Trustee.

My home is very near the Hub and it makes me smile every time I pass to see it buzzing with people of all ages, particularly so many youths, every night of the week & over weekends. I remember the derelict building it was 10 years ago – the difference today is remarkable. When asked to join the Board of Trustees it was a pleasure to say yes and I hope to assist in any way I can to ensure it continues to thrive.

Marion Smith Queensferry Sports and Community Hub
MARION SMITH TRUSTEE

I am originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, I studied, graduated and worked in education in London then moved to South Queensferry to bring up my family over 30 years ago. I am a passionate advocate for inclusive education and supporting self-determination for adults with disabilities.

I have over 30 years of experience in adult education and third-sector organisations. Pioneering projects I have managed include the award-winning Pathways Project, making a significant contribution to the Senior Phase of Curriculum for Excellence and since 2013 developing get2gether.

My interest in being part of the Hub Board of Trustees is to widen access. I would like to see more local people with disabilities and other long-term conditions feel that this is a welcoming centre of well-being catering for them.

Anne Shaw Treasurer

I am a Chartered Accountant with 30+ years of experience working in a variety of companies. Whilst most of my recent experience has been with large US-based organisations I like the idea of being involved with a local organisation where my skills and efforts can be used to make a tangible difference to the community where I live, and the people I mix with regularly on a daily basis.

I have previously Chaired the Echline Primary School Parent Council, been Secretary for my daughter’s football team and been a Trustee for a work-based charity.

I have lived in Queensferry for 20 years, having brought my 3 children up here and regularly ferried them to various sports and community groups. I feel that is it so important to have local facilities for our young people and adults alike and have been so impressed with the way the Hub has grown and become such an integral part of our Community.

Outside of work I am kept busy with my three teenagers but play netball on a weekly basis and am a member of a local book group. I also enjoy catching up with my local friends, walking my dog and making the most of everything that our lovely town has to offer.
